Who I am
Vic Padilla, originally from Mexico City and a resident of Baja California Sur since 2016, is a multidisciplinary creator whose work spans graphic art, experimental music production, and sonic exploration. Founder of Icon Studio, a Mexican graphic art studio established in 2002, his career is a constant quest to capture the essence of the intangible through richly textured illustrations and musical compositions that evoke complex emotional landscapes.
A graphic designer by profession, independent producer, illustrator, and musician, Vic is a passionate collector and explorer of sound. His fascination with the urban soundscapes of the '90s has led him to delve into genres like Dark, New Wave, Madchester, Brit Pop, and Mexican independent music, especially Mexican alternative rock. These influences intertwine with his visual imagination, giving life to tormented creatures and parallel universes that exist on the border between melancholy and hope.
With an artistic sensibility that oscillates between the ethereal and the visceral, Vic has left an indelible mark on Mexico’s underground scene with conceptual projects like Exilio, In Honor, Interior, The Huevonautas, and Los Atormentados. At the same time, he has established himself as a key figure in art direction and visual identity for various cultural projects.
As a music producer, Vic crafts sonic landscapes that transcend convention, exploring the intersection of music and sensory narrative. His creative process revolves around experimenting with both analog and digital textures, layering sounds that converse with each other to generate immersive atmospheres. Each composition is a universe in itself — where organic synthesizers, pulsating basslines, ethereal guitars, and processed percussion weave together to tell wordless stories.
His ability to manipulate sound as raw material allows him to create pieces that oscillate between introspection and cinematic grandeur, functioning as soundtracks to imaginary worlds. Inspired by cyberpunk aesthetics, science fiction, and the depths of human emotion, Vic translates visual concepts into sound, imbuing each production with a unique identity that invites full immersion.
Constantly evolving, Vic continuously explores new production techniques and sound design, experimenting with sampling, glitches, field recordings, and modulation processes to expand his artistic language.
